I hate to complain but I'm in pain. I have cracked a tooth and my head is throbbing constantly. I have just had some work done on it and well.... Augh! At least Maya can bring a smile to my lips. Things are good with our little bundle of joy. For the past few weeks we have been practicing putting Maya in her crib at bedtime. We took the big step when our friend Julie sent us a camera+monitor, so now we can keep an eye on Maya even though the door is closed. Julie has a 7.5 month old baby girl - Shelby, so in many ways she is ahead of the game and is able to anticipate what we need before we know it ourselves. For the first 5 days or so I would put Maya in her crib sometime in between 7-8 p.m.. She would cry a little - sometimes a lot, but I would keep an eye on the monitor well assured that she wasn't entangled in the sheets or slants or something. I would try my hardest not to run in there prematurely and in that way rob her of falling a sleep on her own. Usually she would fall asleep before 15 minutes of crying and she would sleep until her late night feeding (11-12pm). Then I would bring her into our room for the rest of the night, for it seemed I was more anxious than Maya (typical). After less than a week of doing this, she simply started skipping the late night feeding and ZZZZ onwards to 4am in the morning. So all in all not as traumatic as we had feared, and Maya is now happily sleeping in her crib all the time. Now we just have to teach her to run errands for us.

Kære Dorthe.
Det er da bare helt fantastisk, at Maya nu sover for sig selv, og at hun sover så længe.
Så kan du og Keith også få sovet noget mere.

Dorthe, This is Mike's sister commenting. I love your blog, your little girl is just adorable. Your comment about getting her to run errands made me laugh out loud. My oldest is almost 6.5, and now will bring me breakfast in bed; rest assured you will be there one day too. Glad to hear you are getting more sleep, that's always a good thing. Dorothy
